ISFJ

I have been thinking a lot about personality types lately. We talk about them a lot at work, hopefully in order to understand others better and communicate more effectively. We each have a way that we see and interact with the world. I think understanding some of our own tendencies can be helpful, but I worry sometimes that too much focus on them can put us in a box and make it harder to allow ourselves or others to change.

I think there is also a tendency to look at certain characteristics and label them as good or bad, when in reality I think that almost every characteristic can add value to a situation. Of course there are some fields where certain characteristics are important, but I believe we can learn the skills if we need to and want to and most importantly I think we need to be open to the talents others have and welcome them to add and share in the way that works best for them.

I was kind of surprised at how well I feel like my Myers-Briggs assessment described me and the way I work best and observe the world (ISFJ). I am a "defender" and "nurturer." I can see a lot of value in many of these characteristics and want to share them to make things better, but I also see areas I'd like to develop new talents. I think trying to understand where others are coming from can help us relate to each other better and use our talents for the most good.

I'm a Mormon!

I know there is a God. I know He lives and has a plan for us. I know that through His Son, Jesus Christ, we can be happy. We can learn about that plan through His prophets today. Following them will keep us safe. I love this website and this testimony. Life is about loving others and following Jesus Christ. :)

Waiting For Superman

This was a depressing and yet inspiring movie. Go see it and then go do something to make education better....volunteer at a school, be a tutor, care about education, believe in kids, have high expectations, make something happen!

There are always two sides to a story (see link to another article). This is a complex problem and there is no simple solution, but we each should do what we can or feel that we need to do to make a difference. Education is important! There's no Superman, so instead of waiting let's all do something! :)

We Thank Thee, O God, For a Prophet!

I am so grateful for the words of a living prophet. He spoke this weekend! :) He taught us to live with gratitude, not judge others, and think carefully about our choices. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our Heavenly Father's prophet on the earth today! I am grateful for our Heavenly Father's plan and the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ that bring purpose, direction, and happiness in our lives everyday. I am still working on reviewing the words from General Conference and setting goals for myself to live and follow the words of the prophet and the other leaders of the Church. I want to know God and His Son, Jesus Christ better by learning and living their teachings as taught by their prophets. Here are two (of many) of my highlights from the weekend:
